John Burbank
John has been investing in early-stage fund managers for the past decade and as a long-time macro investor has consistently focused on sectors and investments where technology can be particularly disruptive and accelerate change. John founded Passport Capital in 2000 and several members of the Nimble Team join him from that predecessor. John holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BA from Duke University.
Ken Wallace
Ken has 16 years of venture capital experience and was previously the managing director and investment committee member of VC firm Industry Ventures where he specialized in hybrid fund-of-funds strategy, originating, valuing and managing primary fund commitments, early secondary LP investments, and direct co-investments. Ken holds an MBA from Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley and a BA from Wake Forest University.
Sumeet Jain
Sumeet has over 16 years of venture capital, growth, and secondary investing experience. He was previously a Managing Partner, specializing in secondary investing, at OnePrime Capital. He also served as a General Partner of LUMA Capital Partners, a Director at Intel Capital, and a Partner at Presidio Partners. Previously, Sumeet was with Goldman Sachs & Co. in its investment banking division. Sumeet has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science from Cornell University and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Julie Kim
Julie has been a legal advisor to leading institutional managers on transactions, formations, SPVs, co-investments and JVs since 2007. She joined Passport in 2011 and serves as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of Nimble. Julie started her legal career at Davis Polk and earned her law degree from Cornell Law School and a BA from Cornell University.
Seth Spalding
Seth has been a technology investor since 1997, having joined Passport in 2004 as a Portfolio Manager. Prior to Passport, Seth was a VP at Goldman Sachs in technology research. He has decades-long track record spanning both private and public tech cycles. Seth holds an BA from Stanford University.
Michelle Ruggeri
Michelle joined Nimble in 2020, bringing with her over 15 years of experience in alternative assets, tax and accounting. She is responsible for financial operations and fund reporting and comes to Nimble with significant experience from large asset managers such as Farallon and Sumeru Equity Partners. She earned a BS from Santa Clara University.
Erikka Marchiano
Erikka began her career in investment accounting in 2006. She has worked on a variety of fund structures such as SPVs, FOFs, co-investments, private equity, and hedge funds. She joined Passport in 2010 and currently serves as the Nimble Controller. Erikka earned her economics degree from California State University.
Karl Kingma
Karl has advised leading investment fund managers on formations, transactions and regulatory matters since 2019. As a member of Nimble’s legal team, Karl’s responsibilities include launching investment vehicles, conducting due diligence on prospective investments, administering the compliance program and coordinating with the Firm’s business and accounting teams. Prior to joining Nimble, Karl practiced law with Sidley Austin’s Investment Funds group. Karl holds a JD from the University of Chicago Law School and a BA from Duke University.
Julia Purcell
Julia joined Nimble in 2023 as the accounting manager, supporting the controller and CFO with fund operations and financial reporting. She spent the first four years of her career at Deloitte, specializing in tax compliance for both private equity and private wealth clients. She later transitioned to venture capital fund administration, where she spent three years overseeing investment reporting, fund operations, and investor relations for multiple well-established VC funds. She received her degree in business management economics from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
